WalkingChatel in summer

There are more than 65km of footpaths in and around Châtel and over 300km of well marked trekking routes in the Portes Du Soleil that cover both the forest and high pastures. There is a host of waterfalls, lakes, valleys and meadows to explore. From a ramble around the Lac de Vonnes, a themed trail on the Morclan or a visit to the Châtel meadows tasting local farm produce along the way there is something to suit everyone. 25 Chairlifts remain open in high summer across the whole Porte de Soleil region.                                          

 

 

Fantasticable at Chatel

Fantasticable

This is unique to Châtel: if you are a thrill seeker, Châtel is worth a visit just to experience the Fantasticable. There are 2 Fantasticable lines stretching over Plaine Dranse. Open every day from March this is truly an incredible experience, flying 240 metres above the valley and where you will reach speeds of up to 100 kmh.

 

 

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is particularly well catered for, with 380km of marked cycle tracks in the Portes du Soleil. There is also a 4-cross mountain biking trail for the more adventurous. Equipment can be hired in the village.

 White Water rafting

White water rafting takes place on the river Dranse. A team of well organised and professional instructors will ensure that you have a safe but thrilling day out. While you are here you can also try canyoning, white water swimming, canoeing and paragliding.

Children

There are numerous activities to keep the children occupied (and fit) including pony riding, mini-golf, trampolining, quad biking and karting.  There are also supervised day activity centres run by the Marmottons Village (3 to 12 years) or Les Mouflets (3 months to 6 years).

Other activities

Tennis – play tennis on one of eight courts in stunning surroundings.
Rock climbing and glacier hikes. Swimming, summer bobsled, devalkart, ‘rollherbe’ downhill scooter, fishing, archery, french bowls and paragliding.
