Skiing

skierThe apartment is situated opposite the La Panthiaz Telecabine and is therefore ideally located to take advantage of the Portes du Soleil ski area and also to provide easy access to smaller ski area if required. 

The Portes du Soleil ski area is one of the largest in the world with 650km of ski slopes comprising 286 pistes and 207 lifts over 14 resorts in France and Switzerland. There is a mixture of pistes allowing the whole family to have fun whatever their ability, from absolute beginner through to advanced.

The Châtel ski area comprises 83km of ski slopes with 47 pistes and 45 lifts and covers not only Châtel, but also sectors of La Chapelle d’Abondance and of Torgon and Morgins in Switzerland.

Snowboarders are also well catered for with purpose built snow parks and free styling areas in Châtel , Avoriaz and other parts of the Portes du Soleil. 

Access to the ski areas from the apartment is via:

  •       The gondola lift “La Panthiaz”, directly opposite the apartment. It gives direct access to the ski area of Torgon (Switzerland) and from there to the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area.

  •       Châtel’s ski lifts and ski areas, between 10 and 20 minutes drive away. The lifts at Petit Châtel and Super Châtel are 10 minutes away, Linga within 15 minutes and Pre-La-Joux within 20 minutes, all of which also give access to Morgins, Avoriaz, Morzine and the rest of the Portes du Soleil ski area.

  •       The smaller ski area of La Chapelle d’Abondance, 10 minutes drive in the other direction.

 

A free ski bus stops outside the apartment building during the winter season, which connects the centre of Châtel with La Chapelle d’Abondance.

 

Other Activities

Other than skiing and snowboarding, other activities are available in the area including 60km of cross-country trails, 80km of marked snowshoe trails, paragliding, ice diving, sledging and ice-skating.
